How To Create WiFi Hotspot Using Command Prompt

Today we will discuss how we can share our 3G/4G or wired internet connection using command prompt without using any third party software program. Using hosted feature in windows 7/8/10 you can share your internet connection with other Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as laptops, mobiles, tablets and smartphones.
Create Wi-Fi Hotspot in Windows Using Command Prompt:
Step 1: Create WiFi Hotspot
It is necessary to have a wireless card installed on your computer. You may check this in your notification menu or find it from search tab option available in windows.
Open the command prompt with administrative privileges.
There are two ways to open the command prompt in windows.
Open the command prompt using Run: Window Key + R to open Run dialog box and type cmd then press ok button to complete the action.
Open the command prompt from Start: Press Window Key + X or right-click on the start button and then select Command Prompt(Admin). After select, there will open a dialog box where you can enter your command and make your Wi-Fi hotspot.
In the opened command prompt window enter the given command as it is.
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Hotspotname key=password
To change your hotspot name and password replace the given SSID name “Hotspotname” with your desired name and the key “password” with your desired password that you can use to connect the Wi-Fi hotspot network.
After that press enter to create hotspot network. If the hosted network created successfully than you can see a success message in the command prompt box.
Step 2: Start the Wi-Fi Hotspot
In order to start the wifi hotspot type the following command,
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Now hosted network has been started successfully.
Stop Hosted Network:
Type “netsh wlan stop hostednetwork” in the command prompt box to stop the hosted network.
To check the hotspot status type “netsh wlan show hostednetwork”.
Share your internet connection:
For this purpose go to Network and Sharing center and click on change adapter setting on the left-hand side. In the adapter setting right click on the connection that you are using for internet purpose and select its properties. In the properties open the sharing tab and check the box “Allow other network user to connect through this computer’s internet connection” and also select the network connection name that is used by your hotspot. After that save it now your internet connection has been shared.
